Q. What are tips for using herbs?
A. For your self-education on how to use herbs, the National Council Against Health Fraud and Consumer Reports have provided helpful tips for using herbs:
- People should start with small doses, avoid taking large quantities of a single herb, and avoid consuming an herb over a prolonged time period. Only products that clearly identify contents, list contraindications, and claim to be "standardized" should be utilized. The warnings on package and on related material should be noted. It is also a good idea to stick to single-herb products, rather than combination products where an herbs' benefits/side effects may be hard to sort out.
- Pregnant and nursing women and anyone with chronic and serious health problems should not take herbal supplements, unless their doctor gives the green light.
- People should check with their physician to make sure that the herb is safe and doesn't interact with any other medication. Like any drug, people should be alert to the herbs' effects positive and negative, and stop immediately and call the doctor if there's problem.
Q. How to identify pure noni juice?
A. If you are a new user of noni juice or have experienced on drinking other brand of noni juice, please try to identify the products by using the following tips:
- Read the label carefully for ingredients. Compare serving size and Morinda Citrifolia per serving.
- Check the color of the liquid. It should be reddish brown.
- Check the taste. It should be strongly bitter. The less bitter it is, the more diluted it is.
- Make sure your noni juice is thermally treated (pasteurized) to kill bacteria.
- Check the exact source of your noni juice; the best is from the Marquesas Islands or the older Hawaiian islands (Oahu, Kauai, Molokai & Maui). Noni grows best on ancient volcanic and coral soil.
- Make sure your supplier does not use fertilizers or pesticides in their noni farms (It is difficult to verify especially when the supplier does not label the exact source of their noni).
- Make sure no additives or preservatives are added to your noni juice.
- Have your juice analyzed and certified by an independent lab. Do not accept any excuse from the company that their noni juice has proprietary ingredients of processes get the facts.
- Be sure to think through deceptive statements such as "100% pure Noni juice" or "100% authentic Noni juice." Even with such a guarantee statement, some do not remotely taste or look like the real thing.
Q. Do your noni juice contain any shellfish shells?
A. According to ingredients on our Noni Juice supplement facts labels, they do not specify to contain shellfish shells. For detailed supplement facts for our products, please go to noni juice supplements.
